Loren is a Postdoctoral Fellow at Washington University in St. Louis who studies the social and structural determinants of child and family well-being. Using quantitative and qualitative methods, they examine how institutional and policy arrangements shape the capacity to give and receive care, with a focus on the social safety net.

Their work is published in Social Science & Medicine, Sociological Forum, Children & Youth Services Review, and more. They have received awards and external funding from the American Sociological Association, Society for the Study of Social Problems, Horowitz Foundation for Social Policy, and AHRQ T32 Health Services Research Fellowship.

Loren earned a PhD in Sociology at the University of Chicago in 2025.
